Sound

There are two main categories of sound in film, diegetic and non-diegetic.
Diegetic is sound that the character can hear.
Non-diegetic is sound the characters cannot hear, but the audience can (it adds atmosphere/makes you feel emotions)

Examples:
Diegetic: dialogue, ambient sound and sound affects.
Non-diegetic: music, voice over ad sound affects.
